Van Equipment
As the years went by we soon mastered the manufacture
of Van
Racking and Van Protection. The next level of growth
in our van accessory
range was Van
security. Vehicle crime has always been high, but
van theft seem to suffer the most. Insurance companies
wouldn’t cover tools and valuables stolen from vans. Most
vans of that era had glazed rear doors. This was the most
common point of entry. Our van accessory range was soon
complimented with window guards. These very simple van
guards prevented entry into the van via the rear windows.
Thieves would now consider smashing the van windows and
climbing over the seats of the van.
Once again we produced a bulkhead partition for vans.
Separating the cab from the cargo area in vans. Our van
security range was also increased with a clear window
laminate. This helped to prevent the side windows smashing.
The only way left for a van thief now was to attack the
doors. And so they did. Van door locks were torn out in
there thousands. Van manufacturers produced van locks
which were only held to the van by a weak spring clip.
Great for the van manufacturer as the vehicles went down
the production line. Unfortunately there wasn’t anything
substantial holding the van lock to the van door. So thieves
popped them out very easily. Van locks were soon on our
hit list. We added van slam locks, van deadlocks, Electro
shoot bolts, external van locks and even wheel clamps
to our van security range of van equipment.
Mydas Van Equipment formally know as Mydas Van Systems
has been in the van accessory industry for over 18 years.
Initially the company produced Van Racking, items such
as van
roof racks. These commercial roof racks were ideal
for the contractors van. Van roof racks were also complimented
with Van
side racks. Some people call these Van
Glass Racks, Glaziers
Side Frail, For several years now there has only ever
been a hand full of manufacturers supplying side rack
for vans. Historically these have always been very expensive
and the supply time has been lengthy. Generally the donor
vehicle would have had to travel a great distance to one
of the few manufacture/installer. The vehicle would be
off the road for around two weeks. All this negativity
is due to frails being made for individual vans. Now consider
just ho many vans that there is. Then times that by the
different wheel base’s and roof heights etc. It soon amounts
to thousands of designs, templates and jigs etc. Hence
the high cost and the poor service.
However things have changed for the better. Mydas (www.advanture.co.uk
have launched their new ProLite range of van racking.
All their products have been design to be as universal
as possible. This significantly improves the manufacturing
process and therefore reduces costs. Stock can now be
produced very easy which intern means supply time is dramatically
reduced. All their products are produced from aluminium,
which is very light. It will neither impede on carrying
capacity or fuel returns. Naturally aluminium doesn’t
rust, so the product will still look well presented in
several years time. Obviously their product range is very
universal. So the option of transferring from vehicle
to vehicle makes their product range very cost effective.
ProLiteSide racks are produced in three popular lengths.
2mtrs x 2mtrs, is ideal for car-derived vans and midi
vans such Citroen Dispatch. 3mtr x 2.5mtrs is the most
popular which is ideal for SWB and MWB panel vans, while
their 4mtr x 2.5mts suits all LWB vans. All these side
racks are easily amend to reduce in size. Designed to
fit snugly to the side of the van and complimented with
a foldaway base ensure driving is safe and unrestricted.
Rubber blocks and buffer protects the carried article
Although it was soon apparent that the demand was for
a fuller spectrum of Light commercial vehicle equipment
( also know as LCV Equipment ) Van racking wasn’t enough
on it’s own. The van accessory market demanded other items.
Van
shelving. Slide out van racking, Van racks, Van
roof bars just wasn’t enough Items such as Bull
bars, nudge
bars, etc for van protection. Was in demand. Bull
bars for vans was certainly a growing market but producing
these bull bars would be very expensive. So the bull bar
range of our van accessory range was supplied via outside
manufacturers. With this new addition to our van accessory
range soon prompted us towards plywood lining kits for
vans. These pre-cut plywood panels would protect the inside
of a van from load damage. Soon these boarding kits were
all the rage. Van protection was big business. With the
growing cost of light commercial vehicles business’s soon
learnt to protect their van investment with plywood boarding
kits, Bull bars and light guards
Mydas Van Equipment was soon becoming the market leader
in their field of van equipment. Moving into van conversion
required a further increase to our van accessory range
of products. Van seats and van windows were paramount
in the development of our van conversions. Van seating
consists of quite a range. It’s not just the odd minibus
seat. There’s bench seats for vans. Triple seats, Hi back
van
seating, Van seats that make beds, Van seats that
hide tool chests and gas tanks. There’s also van seats
the foldaway and van seats that are designed for quick
removal. Not to mention the very popular industry of fitting
foldaway seats into the back of car derived vans. Van
windows were also added to our van accessory range as
well as van seating. Van windows would normally fit to
the van via a rubber seal however there is now an option
of bonded glass windows. These van windows sit very flush
to the van body work and makes the van conversion look
very professional and well finished.
So Mydas van equipment grew from a small unit into a
large industrial unit offering van equipment and van conversion
to the fleet industry. This attracted some blue chip companies.
A mobile fitting team was employed to cover the Country
offering installation of our range of van equipment. New
and used van dealers soon realised the advantage of this
ultimate one stop shop of van equipment and installations.
Local authorities also welcomed our unique service. However
it’s got to be said that their standards also brought
new challengers. Health and safety in the van was demanded.
Exploring this market soon pointed us towards the simple
need of a first aid kit and a fire extinguisher. Looking
deeper at this product range opens up all sorts of avenues.
Ventilation in a van is catered for with the flettner
air driven vent and a super powerful electric vent which
blows as well as sucks. Access into a van can also be
tricky. Van loading ramps and access steps ease this problem,
Load securing and cargo retention is important and resolved
with a range of cargo securing straps.
Not everyone wants a van as a working tool. Some vans
owners just prefer vans and within that want to add a
little unique van styling. Customising a van is very limited
as there are not so many manufacturers out there catering
for vans. Ok the odd captain seat and a bull bar meets
some peoples expectation’s However some wanted van styling
to included alloy wheels for vans and body styling kits
for vans. It took some doing but with a little determination
we found a range of van styling products.
Van equipment is big business. But once you can offer
all there is to offer you have to broaden your horizons.
Pickups and 4x4’s is the next market place we intend to
offer a range of 4x4 equipment. Some people refer to these
as 4wd equipment but ultimately we will be offering a
range of 4x4
accessories and a range of pickup
accessories. Stainless
Steel A bars, Side
steps, Tow
bars, Bed
liners Truck
tops covers the list is endless and we intend to offer
the lot.
Our aim is to offer a range of products for practical
working vehicles. So the last chapter in our quest would
be to supply HGV equipment. Stainless lights bars and
aerodynamics are important to this cliental, but as before
we intend to go the extra mile and offer sleeper pods,
24 volt equipment like fridges, tv’s etc
