T-Shirts
We love t-shirts
and we are passionate about t-shirts
and three years ago we launched www.moreTvicar.com with
the aim of bringing the very best t-shirts from around
the world under one ‘virtual’ roof.
Whilst a number of very good t-shirt sites already
existed, we felt we had something new, something original
to offer. We knew that we wanted to offer our customers
a wide range of quality t-shirts and that we had both
the eye for quality/originality and the contacts to
achieve this. There are quite literally tens of thousands
of designer
t-shirts and labels around the world and we wanted
t moreTvicar.com to be the quality filter, i.e. to only
showcase the very best in mens
t-shirts, womens
t-shirts, babies
t-shirts and kids
t-shirts.
We were also tired of experiencing poor customer service
and encountering rude/disinterested people or automated
responses where ‘the customer is always wrong!!’ and
we therefore set out determined to offer the very best
customer service we could. Our philosophy was, and continues
to be, that nothing is too much trouble when it comes
to keeping our customers happy. If one of our customers
is unhappy with the product we speak to them, and we
offer either a replacement or a full refund. Plus we
never send standard email responses; all enquiries are
different with customers wanting specific answers and/or
solutions.
We speak to our customers and we resolve queries and
problems accordingly. moreTvicar is now synonymous with
excellent customer service and we receive hundreds of
emails from satisfied customers who continue to shop
with us and who recommend us enthusiastically to their
friends and family.
Having decided what we wanted to sell and how the process
and customer care should operate we were also keen to
explore an original way of how the t-shirts could/should
be sent. Receiving things through the post is exciting
(unless its bills or junk mail…) however the packaging
is often utilitarian and dull. We wanted the experience
of receiving and opening a moreTvicar t-shirt
to be different and exciting. We felt there should be
an element of ‘theatre’ involved, of it being an event
and in order to achieve this, we took a look and a leap
back 50 years…
In the 1950’s, brown paper and string was the most
common way of packaging certain goods. In the feature
film ’56 Charing Cross Rd’ starring Anthony Hopkins,
Anne Bancroft and Judi Dench all of the books despatched
from the exquisite and old-fashioned shop are wrapped
in brown paper and string – quite often with a label.
When the New York based customer (played by Anne Bancroft)
received her books, she would savour the experience
of unwrapping them. Care and pride had been exercised
in sending the goods and there was a sense of occasion
in both receiving and opening them.
We decided to emulate the 50’s penchant for brown
paper and string and for good measure (and with a nod
to Paddington Bear!) we also included a moreTvicar branded
swing tag label. In 2005 we launched a gift service
facility on the site and the messages are hand written
on the swing tag labels. Our customers do not pay any
extra for this wrapping service and like our customer-service
it has yielded plaudits aplenty and helps to set us
apart from any other online
t-shirt retailer.
In August 2003, with approximately 200 different t-shirts
across the following categories; Men,
Women,
Babies,
Kids,
Basics and Branded,
www.moreTvicar.com went live.
We very quickly received enormous interest from the
media and within the first 12 months of trading we had
been featured in over 30 national and international
publications including; Vogue, The Independent, Telegraph,
Mirror, Hello!, FHM and Nylon Magazine (New York) and
consequently the shoppers were coming to shop!
In the three years since we launched moreTvicar.com
a lot has changed and much has stayed the same. Our
packaging has remained consistent, but we now offer
a gift box option; the customer service remains excellent;
but the depth and range of t-shirts on offer has grown
hugely. We now offer in excess of 600 different t-shirts
from 70 labels plus own-label limited edition t-shirts,
unique t-shirts by artists commissioned by moreTvicar
and an annual collection of womens
t-shirts produced for and in association with Great
Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. The charity
t-shirts are designed in-house by moreTvicar’s creative
director and are sponsored by a commercial 3rd party
to enable 100% of the profits from the sale of the t-shirts
to be donated to the charity. These t-shirts
have been featured on LWT’s This Morning and have been
supported by celebrities including Melanie Sykes, Anna
Friel and Kerry Katona.
Over the three years we have been operating we have
also attracted some famous-face customers including
Scott Mills, Fearne Cotton (who in a magazine feature
cited moreTvicar as her favourite online store!), Edith
Bowman and the style guru and editor of GQ magazine
Dylan Jones.
We also sell a number of t-shirts from labels such as
Amplified, Jakes
t-shirts, Chunk
t-shirts, Funky Urban Klothes, Lazy Oaf and SP:UK.
Our celebrity
t-shirts models include Victoria and David Beckham,
Charlotte Church, Vernon Kaye, Peaches Geldof, Paris Hilton
and Kate Beckinsale.
moreTvicar has also moved premises, with the entire
operation working from a large warehouse studio in Kentish
Town. In order to facilitate a next day delivery service,
we hold stock of all the t-shirts we sell and having
the entire operation under one roof means that we have
complete control of all aspects of the moreTvicar operation
that enables us to keep standards high and our customers
happy.
Having recently visited trade shows in Berlin, Barcelona
and London a number of top quality t-shirt labels including
One True Saxon will be added to the moreTvicar stable
of Tees
plus we will be premiering two new labels in the autumn
– unique to moreTvicar.
With a new and improved site to be launched in 2007 including
a number of improved user-friendly technical developments
plus the launch of a sister site, the future looks bright
and busy for moreTvicar! It is an exciting time and we
remain committed to offering the best and safest online
clothes shopping experience
for both our new and existing customers
