From our 18th century farmhouse in the Baztan valley we run relaxed open-house holidays with beautiful walks that step out straight from the farmhouse door onto smugglers routes and stretches of the Camino de Santiago (St James's Way). Eagles and wild horses, watermills and waterfalls form the backcloth to a unique portfolio of walks uncharted by any guidebook. These walking holidays can also be combined with a professional Spanish course where native teachers, farmers and friends give lots of lively conversation practise.
The Baztan valley is one of Spain's last secrets, hailed for its architectural purity and the traditional farming customs and fiestas maintained by these enigmatic mountain people. It lies just an hour from San Sebastian, famous for its tapas bars and glamorous seaside promenade, and an hour from the white sand beaches of Biarritz, and the old-fashioned fishing villages and seafood restaurants of western France.
