French Food
A great deal of French food comes under the category
of sea food & many of the top chef's in the world come
from France. Some of the most famous French foods include
soufflé, steak au poivre & oysters. A huge portion of
western foods have been created through the knowledge
acquired from French food. Each region in France seems
to specialise in certain dishes such as Brittany & Crêpes
or Normandy with their Tripes. French food is said to
be highly refined & extremely elegant in comparison to
other western countries & when eating out in France you
may find prices to be quite high for this reason. French
food is not amongst the easiest to prepare so it is advisable
to have a good grasp on culenary knowledge before you
attempt some of their dishes.
French food ranges from the exquisite to simply elegant
and many French people take enormous pride in the quality
of the food that they cook and eat. Several regions in
France are particularly noted for their unique recipes
and cultural styles of cooking and perhaps even more for
the distinct wines that they produce. The French diet
can be quite varied and some of the more exotic or unusual
French food that is available includes a diverse range
of meats such as horsemeat, goose and even frogs legs
and snails. Some of the vegetables which are used in French
cooking include aubergines, courgettes, mushrooms and
green beans which are typically eaten whole. Seafood also
features heavily in French food and many French restaurants
serve dishes such as oysters, mussels, shrimps and freshwater
trout either as a starter or as part of the main meal.
