Liposuction
Liposuction is an operation which involves removing
excess fatty tissue from under the skin of a patient using
special medical suction equipment. The operation is commonly
referred to as Lipoplasty or a Suction Lipectomy &
can be performed to specific areas of the human body if
required. The average amount of fat that is removed during
a standard liposuction operation is approximately 5kg
although this figure generally depends upon the physique
& level of fitness of each patient. The majority of
people will have a specific area of the body where fat
will like to build up & common areas include the buttocks,
thighs & abdomen. People who are considering liposuction
will normally be notified that they are required to quit
smoking for a number of months & must gain a certain
level of fitness before the operation can take place.
It is a common misconception that liposuction can help
improve cellulite but unfortunately this is not the case
as the operation is conducted under the skin of the patient.
