Feodosia Photographers
Inna and Levent's Feodosia flat is an ideal base from
which to visit the beautiful and less crowded eastern
Crimea. The apartment is close to downtown Feodosia and
the beach - don't miss the authentic farmers' market!
And the coastline is beautiful for swimming, hiking, or
just soaking up the sun.
The eastern Crimea is also rich in history, and the apartment
is in the middle of all of it. The area seems like a quiet
backwater today, but during the medieval period this was
a major commercial destination. There was a rich trade
in furs and slaves from the kingdom of the Russ to the
north, and for a time the area was the terminus of the
famous Silk Road, along which traders brought exotic goods
from China and the East.
Walls and towers made of stone and the old slave quarters
are still prominent amid the bustle of downtown Feodosia,
and just a short drive away, in the city of Sudak, the
walls of the old port of Soldaia stand intact among dramatic
hills rising in sheer cliffs from out of the Black Sea.
Soldaia is a stunning historical site, and in the mind's
eye it is easy to see it crowded with traders and sailors
from all around the Mediterranean, native workers and
craftspeople, hapless prisoners, and Tatar warriors.
The eastern Crimea is a beautiful vacation area that is
as yet undiscovered by westerners, and the "Apartment

get out and explore or just relax beside the Black Sea.
